Frequently asked questions

What is BabyJoy?

BabyJoy is an iPhone app for parents and caregivers. It helps you start solids (food guides by age, allergen introduction, First 100 foods, recipes and a meal planner) and keeps feeds, sleep, diapers, growth and pregnancy in one calm place.

When can my baby start solids?

Most babies are ready for solid foods at around 6 months, when they also show signs of readiness: sitting up with support, good head and neck control, and interest in food. Every baby is different, especially if they were born early or have health needs, so talk to your pediatrician before you start. BabyJoy’s readiness checklist can help you prepare for that conversation.

Is BabyJoy for baby-led weaning or purées?

Both. Each food guide shows how to prepare the food at 6–9 months, 9–12 months and 12 months+, so you can use it for baby-led weaning, spoon-feeding or a mix of the two.

How does allergen tracking work?

BabyJoy tracks the 9 common allergens (peanut, egg, milk, tree nuts, sesame, soy, wheat, fish and shellfish). It suggests one new allergen at a time and reminds you to keep offering the ones you have introduced. If you log a reaction, it pauses new suggestions and shows what to do. If your baby has severe eczema or a known food allergy, talk to your pediatrician before introducing allergens.

Where does the food and safety information come from?

Our food, allergen and safety content is written by our team based on published guidance from sources such as the AAP (HealthyChildren.org), NHS, WHO, CDC and ASCIA. It is general information, not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for advice about your own baby. Your pediatrician knows your baby best.

Is BabyJoy free?

Yes, BabyJoy is free to use. Optional Premium removes ads and adds unlimited assistant chats and pediatrician PDF reports.

Is my family’s data private?

Your data is tied to your account, sent over encrypted connections, and never sold. Ads are non-personalised, and the AI assistant only runs if you turn it on. You can delete your account and all its data from inside the app. See the BabyJoy privacy policy for details.

Is BabyJoy available on Android?

BabyJoy is currently available for iPhone on the App Store.
